B-29 Superfortress photo taken at the moment it hit the ground at its base in China. The plane was returning from a raid to Mukden, Manchuria on December 7,1944 and was very low on fuel and severely iced up, impairing the pilots vision and causing the pilot to become disoriented and land too high. The plane broke in half behind the wings and was written off.
